The link between sugar and heart disease

Did you know that the liver converts excess sugar into cholesterol in the body? Meaning that 7/11 slurpee can actually be worse for your heart than a slice of cake. In fact, low fat and fat-free products tend to be much higher in sugar and worse than their higher fat counter parts. Always look at nutrition labels and aim for no more than 24-36 grams of sugar per day.

The book, "The Case AgainstSugar," makes the argument that sugar is the leading cause of obesity, type II diabetes, and heart disease. Other studies have shown that excess sugar increases the risk of developing heart disease.
